Helsinki is the capital and the most populous city in Finland, located on the shore of the Gulf of Finland and has a population around 650,000. This city won 2012 the World Design Capital ranked by The International Council of Societies of Industrial Design, Torino in 2008；Seoul in 2010；Cape Town in 2014；Taipei City in 2016；Mexico City in 2018；Lille in 2020 and Valencia in 2022.

The British magazine Monocle ranked Helsinki the world's most livable city in 2011. The American magazine Time also ranked Helsinki one of the greatest places in the world in 2021.
